WHY GO NOW
Most people see the Mekong Delta on a day trip from Ho Chi Minh City and are back in the city by evening. This trip goes further in and stays two nights: one in the countryside, one on the river.
The first night is in the Trà Vinh countryside, at a place to stay set among rice fields, in an area of Khmer villages and temples. The next morning starts early, with a couple of hours to see it at an easy pace, by bicycle or without one.
December is the first month of the dry season in the Delta. It rains on about six days in the month, and the days are about 30 degrees, which is as cool as it gets here.
There is a second reason. The river boat is new in 2027. Going in December gives it most of a year on the river before we take a group aboard, and gives us time to travel the route ourselves first.

We arrange the road from Ho Chi Minh City, the countryside stay, the boat and the way back, and join them into one trip.

- You like meeting people naturally, without being expected to spend every moment together.

- You would rather have fewer places and more time than rush through checklist attractions.
Probably not the right fit if you want every hour of every day guided and scheduled.

Getting There
The trip starts and ends at Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), about 4 hours by road.
Flights
Not included, by design, so you can use your miles, choose your airline, and add days before or after. Once the dates are set, we recommend flights that make the most of your time and use the fewest days of leave, and we check typical fares.
Good To Know
- Time off. A long weekend; the exact days of leave are confirmed with the dates.
- Group size. Never more than 15.
- Rooms. If you choose twin-share, we will pair you with another solo traveller of the same gender. A private room is available as an upgrade.
- Meals. Some meals are arranged; the rest are at your own cost, with suggestions from us.
- Itinerary changes. Weather may shift timing or routing, always made with safety and experience quality in mind.
- Before you go. You will be added to a private group chat with the other travellers. Everyone in it chose this trip too, so it is an easy place to start. Join in as much or as little as you like.
